Dear reader,

We have a new name!

On January 4, 2010, the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research became Alberta Innovates – Health Solutions. The new organization is part of the new aligned Alberta Innovates research and innovation system created by the Government of Alberta through an Act passed in July 2009. The new Alberta Innovates – Health Solutions organization will invest in high-quality health research and innovation that corresponds to the province's health priorities in programs that will be developed and approved by its new board of directors.

While the organization has a new name, our publications and materials will demonstrate our continued funding through the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research Endowment Fund. Some of our programs and strategies to support health research will change but we are looking forward to continuing to support health research excellence and innovation in Alberta. And we are looking forward to bringing you more stories about the people that make research and innovation possible. Stay tuned!
