AHFMR Part-Time Studentships enable students enrolled in a full-time professional degree program (usually the M.D. program) in Alberta to engage in part-time research training during the regular academic year. The award consists of a stipend only.
-
Candidates must normally have been accepted into, or be currently engaged in, a full-time graduate program at an Alberta-based university in a health-related discipline leading to a Master's or doctoral degree.
-
3 years, maximum.
-
The award may be implemented at any time within 6 months from the date of offer.
-
The award is tenable at an Alberta-based university only.
-
A faculty supervisor possessing both a record of productive health-oriented research and sufficient resources to ensure the satisfactory conduct of the research must sponsor the candidate. He/she must provide direct supervision and should not supervise more than four full-time AHFMR-supported trainees.
-
It is expected that the amount of time the candidate will commit to research will not be less than the equivalent of 1 day per week, taken either as 1 full day or 2 half days.
-
Part-time awards will consist of a stipend only and will be pro-rated to the amount of time the candidate is prepared to commit to research. The Full-Time Studentship rate will be used as the basis for this calculation.
Part-time students may elect to engage in full-time research during the summer; these students should contact AHFMR to request that full-time summer trainee status be implemented. Please note that the faculty supervisor must support such a request.
-
The original application should be submitted on up-to-date Studentship application forms.
The downloadable forms below are the only forms that will be accepted by AHFMR. Please read the instructions carefully before filling out the form.
